Our Staff
We have expert system admins making sure that our servers are performing well. Unlike other companies, we're able to pay our employees top dollar because we save money by not purchasing overpriced licensing. 100% of our servers and workstations run LINUX and Open Office. Since everyone is paid well, we have virtually no employee turnover. Long before layoffs, the CEO will take steep paycuts or mortgage the house and properties to ensure that payroll is always met.
The key to having good service is having multiple programmers on board and paying them above average so that they do not quit to work for another company. It's too inconvienient to have high turn over. We have realized for what we lose in business from having inexperienced employees that we're much better off just paying an average salary of $80,000 to each employee to keep them on board. It keeps moral and productivity up. Even though we don't offer benefits such as insurance and 401k, we offered the opportunity to our employees asking them if they wanted these benefits or to get rid of them and just pay them more money. Unanimously, everyone picked the high salaries as very few people ever visit the doctor. True, we are a no frills company. But frills don't pay your bills.
We're a company started by EMPLOYEES. We think that all companies should work this way so that they keep knowledgable staff onboard. It makes the company look good when you have programmers who have been on staff for no less than 5 years vs. people who come and go every 3 to 6 months because they went somewhere else to work for a better salary. You need to penny-pinch in all fo the right places and salaries are not the place you pinch.
Through experience at previous companies we all have worked at, when you underpay your employees, they end up having personal problems such as not being able to pay their rent, mortgage, car payments and other bills. In the beginning we were cheap, but then we got tired of having our programmers call in with car problems. Now that we pay them all well, they've all bought new, reliable cars and they always manage to come in on time. This was well worth the price because when employees don't show up, downtime costs us too much. Because it threatens our economy, we do not hire anyone outside the country. We have found that the best way to stop throwing away money is to stop overpaying some rich CEO. Now that the CEO isn't making $200 million per year as a salary, there's plenty of money left to share the wealth to the employees.
Another way we save money on is not hiring people through temp agencies. That just adds to our overhead. If we want to hire you, we'll find your resumé on Dice or Monster. We don't need to pay some 3rd party middleman an $18,000
fee to do this. We also don't have 800 #'s. In a day and age when everyone uses cellular phones, there's no longer a need to have an 800 #. You're going to pay the same on your bill to call us whether it's a toll-free number or a long distance number. There's no point in us paying $.05 cents per minute while you sit on hold when you call us.
We work to live, we don't live to work. We work hard and we play hard. |
